History
Forte Fratello Maggiore is a fort in Genoa’s northern defensive system in Italy. By the Second World War, the fort had fallen into ruins, but its remains were used as the position of an anti-aircraft battery, a military unit equipped to defend against aircraft with anti-aircraft guns.
The battery’s command was housed in Forte Fratello Minore. This wartime use gave the ruined Forte Fratello Maggiore a military function within Genoa’s defenses even after the fort itself had deteriorated.
