History

Arif Agha Mosque is an Ottoman-period mosque in Edirne, Türkiye, founded and built by Arif Agha. Its construction is associated with the fifteenth century, with 1463 given as the foundation date and completion placed around 1506. The mosque belongs to the Ottoman architectural tradition, which combined regional Islamic forms with distinctive Ottoman planning, masonry, and domed structures.

The building is popularly known as Künbed Mosque, an alternative name in which camii means “mosque” in Turkish. It belongs to Sunni Islam and continues to serve as an active place of worship.

Built from cut stone on a square plan, the mosque stands on ground that slopes from south to north. Its minaret occupies the western corner. The building remains extant and was restored by the Regional Directorate of Foundations in 1992. It reopened for worship in 1993.
