History

Wahlenbourg Castle is a ruined castle in France, located at Husseren-les-Châteaux in the Haut-Rhin department of Alsace. Its foundation dates to before 1150. The castle forms part of Les Trois Châteaux, meaning “the Three Castles,” a group of castles in the area.

The surviving ruins have been protected as a French historic monument since 1840. This legal designation, known in France as Monument historique, safeguards heritage sites because of their historical or architectural importance.
