History

Damghan Caravanserai is a historic caravanserai in Iran, located in central Damghan. It dates from the Safavid period, when the Safavid dynasty ruled Iran from 1501 to 1722 and encouraged the development of roads, cities, and caravanserais. As a roadside lodging and service complex, it served traveling merchants, caravans, and other travelers.

The building follows Safavid architectural traditions and was constructed with brick and mortar. It stands beside the Jahangardi Guesthouse on Shahid Shahcheraqi Street. Damghan Caravanserai was registered among Iran’s National Heritage works on 2 Esfand 1376 under registration number 1966.
