History
Saint George Bansko is a late-medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church in Bulgaria, located about 2 km southeast of Bansko along the road to Dobrinishte. Built over an older sanctuary, it belonged to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church under the Bulgarian Patriarchate, within the Nevrokop Diocese and Razlog Deanery. Dedicated to Saint George, the Christian martyr traditionally associated with protection and military valor, the church is no longer in use and survives in ruins.
The small church stood on a slight rise near the newer Church of Saint George. It had a single-nave, one-apse plan and measured approximately 3 by 5 m. Its walls were made of rubble stone bonded with mortar, but these walls have since been destroyed. A masonry wall on the west continues the northern wall and was probably part of a vestibule added at a later stage.
